| Section 8 (Housing Choice
Voucher Program) is a program ran by HUD (Department of
Housing and Urban Development). It allows low
income families or individuals to select and lease
affordable privately owned rental properties. The
government pays for all or a portion of the monthly rent
for tenants who have been accepted under Section 8.
The government will not locate available housing for
you. Thus, it is the responsibility of the
accepted tenant to locate available housing.
Because not all landlords accept Section 8 vouchers,
this webpage is designed for those participants who
receive Section 8 vouchers to find housing that has been
listed as accepting Section 8 vouchers. Simply
click your state from those listed above and only
listings that accept Section 8 vouchers will be
displayed.
Eligibility for the Housing Choice Voucher Program is
determined by the Public Housing Agency (PHA) based on
the total annual gross income and family size. It
is limited to US citizens and certain non-citizens who
have eligible immigration status. If you would
like to apply for Section 8, contact the PHA in your
area by
clicking here. If you have already been
accepted into the program and would like to find
available housing, you can either click the state links
above or use our advanced search page to find
Section 8 housing. |
